Trends of 2010by Danetta SmithYou never know which direction the online world is going to go. It moves so fast and in so many ways that it is impossible to predict what will happen next. However, there has been a trend of new website designs occurring early in 2010 that make websites distinctly different from those of the past. Big Headers and LogosInstead of splash pages, it is becoming more common to see headers / logos /pictures take up the entire screen that the visitor first views. They are not required to click on anything. Most of the time, the user would just scroll down or click in a navigation panel. These oversized headers/logos will grab your visitors and give them something to remember.Sketch DesignsWe are starting to see more and more hand-drawn elements in web design. This trend is moving slowly because it takes more time to hand draw a website and designers are not always comfortable putting their drawing skills on the table. Having sketches incorporated into your website gives a personal touch to your website.Social Media LinksSocial Media, such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter have been around for a while now, but we are really starting to see businesses incorporate these media tools into their websites and companies. Social media will continue to grow and become bigger than we imagined because it allows you to connect with people in a different way.White SpaceSimplistic websites with very little color and lots of “white space” are starting to make their way into 2010. These websites tend to look cleaner, are easy to navigate through, and are easier on the eyes.Magazine LayoutWith today’s world relying more and more on the internet, some websites are going with layouts much like magazines. They have short blurbs of information on their homepage that link to other places where the visitor can read the rest of the article.Mobile WebsitesMore people are starting to drift away from entirely using computers to do their online daily activity. Instead they are using their Smartphones to accomplish this, so we will start seeing more companies invest in mobile websites to make it easier for their visitors to view their information online. If you find that the Trends of 2010 are something that your company would like to know more about, feel free to contact Central States Media at info@centralstatesmedia.com or on the phone at (309) 693-2345. |
