Billboard Design

by Danetta Smith

Being noticed on a busy street isn’t easy, but you have the potential to reach millions of consumers. Billboards can be effective outdoor advertising if done correctly. Your goal with billboards is to gain attention, create interest and get the passerby to take action.

Get Creative
We take on so much information daily, that sometimes we barely notice billboards as we pass them. You have to create really eye-catching imagery and think out of the box to be noticed and remembered.  Click here to see how other companies are being creative.

Know Your Audience
Just like any other form of advertising, you must know your audience. Who are you targeting? Even though billboards have potential to reach millions of people, you cannot please everyone. Know your audience’s tastes, backgrounds and cultures so that you can create clear messages.

Keep it Simple
You usually only have seconds to read a billboard. No matter what size billboard you are dealing with, you should keep your message under 7 words. Remember the goal of a billboard is not to give away all of your information. You want to grab their attention and give them some sort of reason to find out more information.

Be Big and Bold
The bigger your text and images, the further away your message can be received.  This is especially important if your billboard is further away from the road.
